1 - THE WRECK OF THE COAL CARRIER (Raiatea) This german merchant ship, sunk in 1914, rests in 17 metres of water, its masts down to 30 metres. A sizeable vessel ( 50m long by 15m wide), its cabin has been completely colonised by coloured sponges, ( spondyles) and black coral, not to forget the coachmen, salmon coloured loach, giant carangues, and others such as barracudas. 2 - THE TEAVAPITI INLET ( Raiatea) This is an ocean dive, on an elevated seafloor, with strong persisting sweeping currents precluding the growth of any sort of coral colony. Ten different dive sites. However this excursion is made interesting by the passage of a number of oceanic species: becunes, barracudas, striped doctor-fish, manta rays, platax, sharks, liches, black carangues, nasons and balistes. The Teavapiti false bottom forms a rich tapestry of multi- coloured corals. 3 - THE CORAL GARDEN ( Raiatea) The coral display which begins at a depth of 38m is a spectacular one and in itself warrants this expedition. No dead or sclerotic coral here. Only the shapes and colours of the multiple varieties of Montipora, Agaricia, Porites, Acropora and Pocillopora extending even beyond a depth of 50m. This is truly a subaquatic garden. 4 - FANTASMA TAHAA ( Tahaa). This is one of the most pleasurable dives in the whole Society Islands archipelago. The water is amazingly clear and visibility extends to over 40m. This spot offers a happy compromise between the beauty of the seascapes and the sheer variety of animal species: whether it be porites extending over two meters high or the impressive size of the barracudas, lutjans, loach, nasons, Napoleon-fish, carangues, sharks and turtles, this exuberant mix of colours will be there to meet you. Notable for the present of massive outcrops of millepora of fire coral ( not to be touched under any pretext). 5 - THE TOAHOTU INLET, LEFT BANK ( Tahaa). Come and admire, at a minimal depth, Tahaa’a underwater trademark: displays of distichopora of yellow coral, blended in with cirrhipates coral. 6 - THE TOAHOTU PITONS ( Tahaa). Again in the superb little inlet at Toahotu. Two rocky underwater pitons, one culminating at a depth of 25 meters, and the other at 28 meters. Napoleon-fish come to meet you with an invitation to explore these two impressive dark shapes perfectly highlighted against the ocean blue background. They are covered in orange coral and have become the meeting place for doctor-fish, carangues, nasons, platax, barracudas, lagoon sharks and Manta rays. 7 - THE PAIPAI INLET ( Tahaa). Extremely beautiful displays of orange coral, several caves and faults to explore and a multicoloured fauna ( angel-fish, butterfly-fish, parrot-fish, surgeon-fish). HEMISPHERE SUB.
